«Fragments» Collection – Anthony Guerrée for M éditions
Fondation Le Corbusier presented for Paris Design Week 2022 Anthony Guerrée’s new collection titled “Fragments”, which includes marble objects inspired by the great architect and the Doric Ionic and Corinthian orders. That is not an arbitrary connection since Le Corbusier has mentioned the significance of his travels in Athens and Pompei. The furniture pieces bear curved angles that soften the strictness of the archetypical forms. The marble is recycled, coming from pieces of unsold materials stored at the Marbreries de la Seine.

Maybe you can use it for your Stereo – Mattias Sellden
The Swedish designer deploys different types of wood for each of his unique creations. Each object derives from a strong concept and the restrictions and potential imposed by this specific material. The latter is used in large boards without distorting its materiality, creating intense compositions with a distinct character on the cusp between sculptural and functional. The wood grain is further highlighted by the use of intense colour in the semi-transparent varnish as is evident in “Maybe you can use it for your Stereo”, made with Birch wood and presented at the designer's solo exhibition at Friedman Benda in New York.

Liquid Table – Fürn
The duo of Anna Baierzdorf and Sergii Baierzdof from Ukraine, after completing their studies at the Odessa State Academy of Building and Architecture, began experimenting with different materials and new techniques, creating functional interior objects. The Liquid Table consists of three stainless steel surfaces, which, through a technique called chasing, acquire this textured quality that reflects light throughout the space. So, the object seems to lose its strict silhouette as it constantly transforms during the day.

Marée Chair – Jens Martin Skibsted for Montana Furniture
Inspired by the tide, Danish designer Jens Martin Skibsted created the chair that features these distinctive folds in its plastic part, which is made from 100% recycled material. These folds, in addition to aesthetics, provide strength and support, creating a rational design vocabulary lacking unnecessary details. The chair is available in eight colours that emphasise the simple but intelligent design and comes in different sizes so that it is useful in any space, such as an office, a dining room or a bar.

Takku Lamp – Foster + Partners for Artemide
The versatile, internationally active studio Foster + Partners, in addition to the architectural and urban scale, also deals with objects. The industrial design of the studio is characterised by simple, dynamic forms with an emphasis on functionality. Launched for Milan Design Week 2021 by Artemide, the portable “Takku” lamp (meaning “pin” in Japanese) reveals the source of inspiration for its petite silhouette. The curved head of the lamp controls the diffused emission of light, while its large circular base provides stability. It is made from recycled aluminium, making it ideal for all indoor or outdoor spaces.

NAMU – Studio Yoon Seok-Hyeon
Maison&Objet's “Rising Talent” nominee Seok-Hyeon Yoon designs objects with a reduced ecological footprint, giving new value to materials found all around us. Other than materiality, he is also interested in the social aspect of design, which is integrated into his functional objects with the help of experimentation. NAMU ("tree" and "wood" in Korean) is an ongoing research project initiated by the "Rethinking Plastic Challenge" exhibition and concerns the creation of a light and flexible plastic made of sawdust and natural adhesive. This material can be used to complete the design of functional objects and it is biodegradable.

Ekstrem – Terje Ekstrøm for Varier
Norwegian Terje Ekstrøm represents the generation that modernised Scandinavian design, while showcasing domestic design in the 1970s and 1980s. One of his most legendary designs from 1984, the “Ekstrem” armchair, is being launched again by Varier. The distinctive design of this very unusual seat allows the user to sit in many different ways, while its geometry gives the space an elegant, modern aesthetic. The stretchy, soft upholstery that covers the metal frame is breathable and knitted from one continuous thread, featuring a quadratic pattern.

Georgette Sofa – Kontaxakis Architects
Architect Georgios Kontaxakis, after years of work experience and education abroad, founded his office in Chania, where he is originally from. The office deals with the interior design of residencies and workspaces as well as product design. The Georgette Sofa derives its classic shape from ancient Greek architectural elements, combining the basic shapes of the circle and the rectangle. The colour and texture of the fabric can be decided by the customer's own needs, while there is also a version with bronze arms.

«Horizon» Exhibition – Marie & Alexandre
The collaboration between Marie Cornil and Alexandre Willaume resulted from a competition where the two creators co-existed as finalists. Now, their collaborations for exhibitions, private projects and collections are distinguished by a passion for research. As part of the "Horizon" exhibition hosted at Galerie Signé, they studied the aesthetic properties of ceramics in lighting design. The light and durable creations made in the Alain Vagh factory "play" with concepts such as balance, connection and extension, like gymnastic exercises. The entire exhibition is a dialogue between the human scale and the object and architecture scale.
