This exhibition always sets an example in the world of design, luxury and collectible objects, and lifestyle by promoting innovation in form, materials and collaborations while also introducing new creators and groups. This year, among the many interesting Design Week exhibitions, we distinguished "Candlelight" by the French BASIA EMBIRICOS GALERIE in which several notable creators from Greece and Cyprus participate. The EMBIRICOS exhibition, which is about the collectible candlestick and presents its different versions, includes important names such as -indicatively- Rick Owens who, in addition to his work in fashion, has also created a series of furniture with a corresponding (glunge) aesthetic, and the famous Ettore Sottsass who made history with the Memphis movement in the 80s.

Alongside them, Aidinis Diamantis, Michael Anastassiades, Theodoros Psychogios and -with double participation- UN P R 18T (Un. Processed Realities) Un.Processed Realities x Serapis and Un.Processed Realities x Linou Soumpasis Ke Sia. Aidinis Diamantis, is a well-known sculptor and designer who lived for many years in Italy (Rome) and participated in the transavanguardia movement of Achille Bonito Oliva. Theodore (Teo) Psychoyos is a multi-faceted artist who has lately been dealing with monumentality in furniture, using heavy earthy materials such as marble. His "RAW" collection was presented last May at Carwan Gallery. Michael Anastassiades is a very important designer who deals with both industrial production and handcrafting techniques with references to the archaic past of Cyprus and the history of modernism in general. Finally, Un. Processed Realities is a design studio producing hybrid work that explores the relationships between man-nature, paradox-rational and real-mystic. In this particular exhibition, they collaborate with Serapis, a Greek brand that unites fashion with nautical language and experience at sea through a visual vocabulary. UN P R 18T also exhibits in collaboration with Linou-Soumpasis & Sia, a restaurant with a special decor in Athens, which integrates the concept of heritage and family know-how into its decor and way of operating a completely contemporary space.

This September's MAISON & OBJET exhibition, which reaches up to 80.000 buyers from France and abroad and is broadcast on multiple media, attracted over 3.000 exhibitors. It is divided, as is clear from the title, into Object -collectible, utilitarian, decorative or accessory- and into Home (Maison), which concerns interior decoration and furniture. What's New holds a special place in the exhibition as well as MOM Village, which offers a look at the trends and needs of the future. The exhibition is organized with its "traditional" aim of helping all visitors (experts and interested parties) to draw inspiration and ideas that lead to the next trends, while conferences are also organized that envision the next versions of design through case studies and lectures by experts.
